Zipping Classic Day Chances

Kavanagh Racing has two good chances heading to Sandown tomorrow for their feature raceday.

Eales Racing’s Horrifying will contest the Group 2 Sandown Guineas (1600m) off a great run in the Group 3 Carbine Club Stakes at Flemington last start. Horrifying finished third behind Aysar on Derby Day, who is clearly the horse to beat with the market installing him as the $1.75 favourite.

His trainer Mark Kavanagh believes the three-year-old son of Shocking has improved a lot since the run and is not without a chance on Saturday. In form jockey Jamie Kah takes the ride, and jumping from barrier six, Horrifying will have every chance to perform to his best.

Wild Vixen will be dropping back in distance to contest the Group 3 Kevin Heffernan Stakes (1300m) third-up, taking on the older geldings under weight-for-age conditions.

Her trainer Levi Kavanagh believes 'a sharper' Wild Vixen will be suited back in distance rather than stepping-up in distance and racing her own gender in the $160,000 G3 Summoned Stakes (1500m).

Wild Vixen narrowly missed Group success at her first attempt when she finished third behind Rich Hips and last year's Blue Diamond Stakes winner Lyre last start in the G3 Maybe Mahal Stakes (1400m) at Flemington on Melbourne Cup Day.

Sportsbet has marked Wild Vixen as equal $5 second favourite alongside the Greg Eurell-trained Blazejowski for Saturday's race, with dual G2 Linlithgow Stakes (1200m) winner Kemalpasa the $2.70 favourite.

Tonight Mark saddles up Wordy at Moonee Valley, who finished second last start at Echuca. He will need to improve slightly to win but he has plenty of upside and is likely to hold a forward position with the rail being out 5 meters.

Hopefully tomorrow caps off a good week for Kavanagh Racing with Nantucket impressively breaking his maiden status at Bendigo on Wednesday and Big Brew saluting at Kyneton on Friday.
