Vegas Jewel Oaks Bound

Vegas Jewel has pulled up well after her impressive win on Friday night at The Valley. Making it two from two, her connections could not be more excited about her future and look forward to the first Thursday in November.

Her trainer Mark Kavanagh has confirmed that the three-year-old filly by Melbourne Cup winning Stallion Shocking will head to the Group 1 VRC Oaks via the Group 3 Ethereal Stakes at Caufield on October 19.

Vegas Jewel is a daughter of Vegas Dancer, who is a half-sister to the Stakes winner Vegas Showgirl, the dam of champion mare Winx. She has been bred to run a trip and her owner Laurence Eales could not be happier with her progress so far.

“She is a very good horse; she had a bit of tough run (on Friday night) and she did it easy, so I’m very, very excited about her”, said Laurence.

Eales Racing, who raced Shocking, have continued to support him at stud and make the trip to New Zealand each year to purchase his standout yearlings.

“I think this crop that is coming through are going very well, I have some really nice ones and she is definitely one of them. And she’s related to Winx which I’m very excited about.”

“I’m pretty excited about the whole syndication business and all the horses we have on offer.”

Over the years Eales Racing and Kavanagh Racing have shared many Group and Listed victories together with horses Whobegotyou, Shocking, Miss Stellabelle and Liveandletdie. We hope Vegas Jewel can add to the tally.

“It is good to be back with Kav, we have had a lot of success together and we have some really nice horses in the stable that are showing a lot of potential.”
