A Super win in the Autumn Classic

Last years Victoria Derby runner up Super Cool will proceed to the Australian Cup after his good win in the $221,000 Group Two MRC Autumn Classic on Saturday.

The son of Fastnet Rock out sprinted his Derby conqueror Fiveandahalfstar in the straight to land a length win. They spaced the rest with Subiaso trailing in third beaten six and a half lengths.

Super Cool is emerging as a promising middle distance horse and, like Fiveandahalfstar, looks to be defying the negative stereotype that often accompanies Spring three year olds who compete in the Derby.

The pair are set to renew their rivalry in the Australian Cup on March 9 but will of course have to contend with horses the calibre of Turbull Stakes and Melbourne Cup winner Green Moon.

Trainer Mark Kavanagh purchased Super Cool from the 2011 Magic Millions Gold Coast yearling sale for $150,000 and prepares the gelding for a group of valued stable clients including Tony Torcasio who has also enjoyed success with We're Gonna Rock.

Super Cool, who won the Moonee Valley Vase during the spring, has won three of his eight starts and been placed on a further three occasions for prizemoney totalling $600,350.
